In previous lives, Shandor taught English to kindergarteners in Japan, insulated homes in Vermont, counseled HIV+ teens, worked for the nonprofit Farm School, and waited tables in a 4 star French restaurant. His films draw on these broad range of experiences, with storylines often centering on the forging of connections, and the serio-comic state of modern relationships.

Shandor holds a BA from Williams College, and an MFA in Film Production from NYU. At Tisch, he co-founded the Purple List, the annual list of the best, production-ready feature screenplays from the NYU Grad Film community. Shandor Garrison

Shandor Garrison is an award-winning director, screenwriter and Emmy-nominated editor. As a writer-director he has helmed over a dozen short films, including the TV pilot Goon Squad starring James Franco and Hank Azaria, the digital series American Viral starring Michael Showalter, and the web series Brooklyn is for Lovers. He also is an in-demand editor for brands such as Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, Bon Appetit, GQ, Vogue and Wired. His work was recognized with a 2018 Documentary Emmy nomination for Glamour’s Angelique and 2018 and 2017 James Beard Media Awards for Bon Appetit's Working 24 Hours At.

Shandor is currently developing his first feature, COYOTE, co-written with James Franco, and is partnering with 28-3 Productions on the college admissions scandal limited series THE SIDE DOOR.
